Cordia Dodecandra
This bass I built for myself. I saw a piece of Ziricote at the lumber yard that struck my eye and I decided to build myself a "decked-out" 5-string, LED's, inlays and all! Ziricote comes from Central America and Mexico.
The top, back and headstock laminate is all Ziricote. The core of the body is alder with an accent veneer of maple to divide the laminates from the body. The fretboard is birdseye maple with green LED fret markers, a Yin/Yang 12th fret marker with my initials that light up also.
The neck consists of maple, purpleheart, and bubinga where the center laminates taper into the headstock.
The dragon inlay is made from real ivory that came from the keys of a very old piano.
Electronics/pickups are Bartolini and the hardware is Schaller.
