Red Malawi
The Red Malawi, what is it? Malawi is the name of one of the regions in Central Africa where the wood, Bubinga, which is used for the top laminate and matching headstock, originates from. The term "Red" was chosen because of the natural reddish color of the wood.
The body of the bass is Alder with a piece of bubinga covering the neck laminations. The neck is a three piece lamination of maple with wenge as the center laminate. The fingerboard is a very beautiful piece of birdseye maple with a lot of character.
The bass was finished with three coats of oil and a few coats of wax which gives it a really nice looking sheen.
The electronics and pickups are Bartolini. There is a two band active/passive EQ with volume, treble and bass.
